What: Cultural Arts Assembly

Hal Trapkin brings his amazing H.O.T.M.I.N.U.S. (History of Teenage Music in the United States) program to FMS on Fri. Dec. 14th. This rousing multimedia presentation energetically dramatizes the evolution of teenage music in the US from ragtime to present time. The finale titled Retrorock, presents teenage music since 1955, with multiple slides, costume changes, and live drumming.

When:  9:45am (8th Grade), 11:10am (6th) & 12:05pm (7th)

Where: FMS Upper Gym.

Last year, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders enjoyed the amazing a cappella group Almost Recess, and “Eight is Never Enough,” an improvisation group of talented New York-based actors. This year, we are hoping to expand our program by possibly increasing the number of performances provided to our students and by creating opportunities to bring performances during evening events so families may enjoy them as well.

Each year, free showcases of performers are held in the fall. Upcoming showcases are scheduled for September 27, October 1, October 4 & October 11, at the Carver Educational Center Auditorium, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, MD 20850, from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm each day. Different performers present every 15 minutes, and each day features different performers. If you are interested in attending these showcases and providing your feedback for act selection as part of the committee, please contact Chairperson Betsy Sirk at 301-421-1294 or betsy.sirk@nasa.gov.
