Haiti Fundraising Competition

Gazette to host Favorite Teacher Contest
The Gazette is asking for students grades K-12 to nominate their favorite teacher at www.favoriteteacher.net through Friday, Oct. 16.
The Gazette will select the finalists, and then will post the finalists online for everyone (adults included!) to vote on in November.

Walk to School Day (10/7)
The Board of Education adopted a resolution proclaiming October 7, 2009, as Walk to School Day. Children, parents, and community leaders again are joining together nationally and internationally to walk children to school or to the bus stop to promote traffic pollution awareness, health and physical fitness, and pedestrian safety in their communities.

NIH Study
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development seeks teens ages 13-17 to participate in a research study of eating habits.
Participation involves eating a meal at the NIH on two separate weekdays and blood draw.
