Celebrate Montgomery County’s Community Service Day

Celebrate Montgomery County’s Community Service Day and earn SSL Hours!
Make a Difference – Saturday, October 24th or Sunday, October 25th

Montgomery County Schools and their students have always been an important part of Community Service Day. We hope you will join us once again on the weekend of October 24! What began as Community Service Day in Montgomery County 22 years ago has become a national day of service known nationally as Make a Difference day. This year this day is part of President Obama’s “United We Serve” national campaign. The effort to promote volunteerism is strongly supported by County Executive Ike Leggett through the Montgomery County Volunteer Center.

Bring Community Service Day to your School or Community. Students earn Student Service Learning Hours and have fun doing it!

Plan your own project with adult supervision – or – let the Montgomery County Volunteer Center help you find one. Spruce up your school, clean up a park, paint a shelter, create arts & crafts projects, etc.

The Montgomery County Volunteer Center has resources available to help group leaders get started. To find out about resources on organizing your own self-directed service project, visit the Volunteer Center at: http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/volunteer and click on the Community Service Day link a the top of the page. Register your group’s project and get recognized in the Montgomery County Gazette!
