Join Team Farquhar in the Race for the Cure
Mrs. Delisle, 6th Grade English teacher, would like to form a “Team Farquhar” to participate in the 2008 Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure on Saturday, June 7, 2008. It is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world, with well over 1 million participants since 2005. The Komen Race for the Cure Series raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
This would be a great opportunity to promote a healthy lifestyle and the opportunity to participate philanthropically in the community. Mrs. Delisle would like to make this a school-wide involvement that inlcuded students, parents and staff. One idea is to possibly have t-shirts made that can be worn on race day. She would work on it from the staff end, but would love a team of parents to work with her on promoting the Race with students, their families, work on connections for t-shirts, possibly have volunteers to sell the t-shirts at lunch, etc. Other suggestions and ideas are welcome.
