Reminders About Attendance
Any student who is absent must bring in a note from a parent/guardian upon return. Any student who arrives at school after the day has officially begun (7:50 a.m.) must report to the main office. A parent/guardian must sign the student in or the parent/guardian must supply a note. Notes must include the student’s name, date of absence or lateness, reason for absence or lateness, and a parent/guardian signature. If a student arrives late to school without a written note or parent, a warning will be given, the parent will be contacted, and a detention will be assigned on the third offense.
New After School Activity
The Washington Bridge League would like to sponsor Bridge Club for our students. The Bridge League already supports after-school bridge programs at Tilden, Baker, Argyle, and Frost Middle Schools. The club is free of charge, will meet on Thursdays beginning March 6 (through May), for beginners (of course), and only requires eight students for two tables of bridge. Parents I need your help to support this club so please speak to your children about joining. I’ll talk about the club during all lunches, and students can sign up with me or on a sign-up sheet posted in the cafeteria. Thanks for your assistance and don’t hesitate to call me—Claudette Hamerski, After-School Activities Coordinator (301-924-3100).
Relay for Life Great News
The high interest raffle for the happy stuffed frog and clock radio raised $243.00 for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. This will be donated and used to register a Farquhar team sponsored by the Leo Club on the American Cancer Society web site. A 7th grade student Dylan Firey won the radio and Mr. John Hilly won the frog. Mr. Hilly is allowing us to use the frog as the mascot for the FMS team. Students and staff will be leaping around the Sherwood High School track during the Relay for Life.
