African American Read In
The African American Read In is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English and is held at different locations all over the country. The goal of the program is to make the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities. We will recognize this event at Farquhar Middle School with a Celebration of Classic African American Poetry on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at 7pm in the media center. We are asking interested Farquhar students to sign up to recite a classic African American poem or original work. We have also invited Farquhar’s Step Team to demonstrate a few of their precision routines! Contact Sharon Mosley-Ramsey at alljazz105@aol.com for more information and to sign up to participate. Coffee and dessert will be served. Students must sign up by Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 to take advantage of this opportunity to perform!
